    Mrs. Jessie Mae Lee Flood

    October 13, 1946 - October 6, 2018

    Jessie Mae Lee Flood, was born October 13, 1946 in Hertford County, North Carolina to the late James Whaylon Lee and Blannie Wiggins Lee. She departed her life on October 6, 2018, at Long Island Jewish Hospital, Valley Stream, New York. Jessie graduated from Robert lee Vann High School in 1965 and begin her career at Sunbeam in Ahoskie, North Carolina. She moved to New York and later enrolled at Manhattan Community College, where she started her nursing career. She obtain a position with Coney Island Hospital as a staff nurse. After one year, she was chosen to work in the Medical Intensive Care Unit for her critical thinking and outstanding work performance. In 1982, she was promoted to Critical Care Unit, where she displayed superior knowledge and received a Certificate of Deep Appreciation. After 44 years of serving in nursing career, she decided to retire but she loved nursing so much, she sought a part-time job working private duty for several years. Later she decided to end her nursing career and travel. She traveled such places as Mexico, Belize, Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Cuba, Bahama, Jamaica, and many, many more. This was her dream all of her life to travel and to enjoy life. She was described as good-hearted, very generous, lovable, but caring individual, other words to know her is to love her. She always helped her family and many others, and every time one of her sibling gets sick, she would always call one of the other sibling to check on that particular sibling. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Lee and Dorothy Mae Lee Johnson; two brothers, James Whaylon Lee, Jr, and Alfred Donnell Lee; one-sister-in-law, Ida Lee. She leaves to cherish her memories three brothers, William H. Lee, Clyde “Bob” Lee, and James Earl Grant(Denise) all of Ahoskie, North Carolina; two sisters, Annie Boone-Carroll of Salisbury, NC and Jean L. Lee (Kitchen) of Woodland, NC; A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, great-nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends. She adored Cousin Edward Jenkins and her Beloved God Daughter Sudelia Williams. Funeral arrangements are Saturday, October 13, 2018, with visitation at 1PM follow by service at 1:30PM, Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Interment in Ambrose Memorial Cemetery. Family will meet friends on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 at Reynolds Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Ahoskie, NC from 3-6 p.m. Boone-Carroll Funeral Home of Cleveland, NC, is assisting the family.
